Overview / About the Scholarship
The scholarship is a fully-funded sponsorship for post "A" Level, International Baccalaureate, or Advanced Diploma leavers. For the 2026/2027 academic year, the program continues to prioritise technical and data-driven fields. Scholars are bonded to the company for 5 years upon successful completion of their degree, ensuring they apply their global education directly to Brunei's energy industry.
Scholarship Value / Benefits
As a fully-funded scheme, the financial benefits are extensive. Estimated values are shown in USD ($) based on standard 2026 rates:
- Living Allowance: A generous monthly stipend to cover accommodation and meals (approx. $1,600–$2,000/month).
- Full Tuition Fees: 100% of the University of Hertfordshire tuition fees (approx. $21,000–$26,000/year).
- Travel: Economy airfare from Brunei to the UK at the start of the course and a return flight upon completion.
- Books & Clothing: Annual allowances for academic materials and appropriate attire (approx. $800–$1,000).
- Guaranteed Employment: A professional role within the BSJV group of companies upon graduation.
- Medical Insurance: Coverage for the duration of the stay in the UK.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the BSP Scholarship for the University of Hertfordshire, you must:
- Be a citizen of Brunei Darussalam.
- Be under 25 years of age.
- Hold excellent academic qualifications:
- A-Levels: Minimum grades of BBB (some technical courses may require higher).
- IB Diploma: Minimum of 35 points.
- Advanced Diploma: Minimum GPA of 3.0.
- Hold an unconditional offer from the University of Hertfordshire for an approved course.
- Pass a medical examination conducted by the Panaga Health Centre.
- Pass the Government Security Vetting and the BSJV Scholarship Assessment Centre
Level & Field of Study
- Level: Undergraduate (Bachelor's degree) only.
- Field of Study: Focused on energy and innovation, including:
- Engineering: Chemical, Electrical & Electronic, Mechanical, Civil, Petroleum.
- Sciences: Geology, Geophysics, Physics, Environmental Science.
- Technology: Data Science, Computer Science.
- Others: Quantity Surveying.

- Provider: Brunei Shell Petroleum (BSP), the largest oil and gas company in Brunei Darussalam.
- Host University: University of Hertfordshire (UOH), recognized by BSP for its strong engineering and technology curriculum and modern facilities in Hatfield, UK.
Required Documents
- Certified Academic Records: "O" Level, "A" Level/IB, or Diploma transcripts.
- Proof of Identity: Certified copy of Brunei IC and Passport.
- Admission Offer: Unconditional offer letter from the University of Hertfordshire.
- English Proficiency: IELTS Academic score of 6.5 or higher.
- Personal Statement: Highlighting your leadership potential and commitment to Brunei's energy sector.
How to Apply
