The scholarship acts as a tuition fee discount for students classified as "Overseas" or "EU" for fee purposes. It is awarded based on a student's prior academic record. For the 2026/27 academic year, the scholarship is primarily focused on students joining the Newcastle upon Tyne or London campuses for full-time study.
Scholarship Value / Benefits
- Postgraduate (Master's): A tuition fee discount of approximately $3,750 (equivalent to £3,000).
- Undergraduate (Bachelors): A first-year discount of approximately $3,750 (£3,000), with potential further discounts of $2,500 (£2,000) in subsequent years, totalling up to $8,750 (£7,000) over a three-year degree.
- Early Payment Bonus: Students who pay their deposit by the specified deadline (usually May for September entry) may receive an additional $625 (£500) discount.
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for this merit award, you must:
Fee Status: Be classified as an International (Overseas) student.
- Academic Excellence: Demonstrate "outstanding academic ability" in your previous qualifications (typically a high GPA or First Class honours).
- Self-Funding: You must be paying your own fees; students receiving full sponsorship from a government or employer are not eligible.
- Course Status: Be accepted into a full-time Undergraduate or Postgraduate Taught (Master's) program.
- Campus: Most awards apply to the Newcastle upon Tyne campus, though similar schemes exist for the London campus.
