John Kinghorn Scholarship

The John Kinghorn Scholarship in Engineering is a flagship merit award aimed at attracting global talent to the University of Sussex’s world-class Engineering Department. For the 2026/27 cycle, the university offers three such scholarships, with one award specifically reserved for a female applicant to promote gender diversity and women's participation in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics). The scholarship is highly competitive, focusing on candidates who can articulate their academic interests and how their chosen degree at the University of Sussex will act as a catalyst for their professional goals. Because the award is a £10,000 discount, it provides a major financial incentive for students to pursue advanced technical specializations, such as Robotics, 5G Communications, or Mechanical Engineering, at a top-tier UK research institution.

To be eligible, a candidate must:

• Be classified as an Overseas fee payer for international students.
• Have been offered and accepted a full-time place on an eligible Engineering Master's degree.
• Commence studies in September 2026.
• Demonstrate academic excellence and a strong interest in engineering innovation.
• Note: One of the three awards is reserved specifically for a female candidate.
